Have you been inspired by our latest photography exhibition, Voyages? In conjunction with the exhibition, we're challenging you to create a photograph that reimagines an object in the Science Museum and shows it in a whole new light. Enter your photographic masterpiece into our competition for your chance to win one of three incredible prizes.
Internationally acclaimed photographers Anderson & Low were inspired by our collection of historic ship models on a visit to the Museum’s storage facility at Blythe House. They photographed them using only ambient light and played with the effects created by the plastic coverings that protect them when in storage. From this they created a series of photographs that present the maritime models in a new way, reimagined as epic voyagers.
You can use any creative method you like when making your own photograph*, from a funky filter to an alternative angle. And you can use any kind of camera, from the one on your phone to a DSLR.
The competition will be judged and the winners chosen by Anderson & Low. All entries will be given equal consideration based on how creatively they reinterpret an object in the Museum's collection.
The competition closes on 4 June 2017 and three lucky winners will be chosen for the following prizes:
- 1st prize: £1000 gift voucher
- 2nd prize: £500 gift voucher
- 3rd prize: £250 gift voucher
All the prizes are redeemable against your choice of any photography or film-making course with our partners, City Academy. For your chance to win, email us your entry
You can also tweet, Instagram, or Facebook us your image @sciencemuseum, using the hashtag #VoyagesComp.
If you're unable to visit the Museum in person while the competition is open, you can enter your interpretation of an object from our online digital collection instead.
Get creative—and good luck!
*No objects must be harmed in the making of your photographs. Please be respectful of the Museum’s admission guidelines with regards to photography.
